Popular 1960s Singer Passed Away At Age 101

Jane Morgan, the elegant American singer best known for her romantic hit “Fascination,” has died at the age of 101. Her family confirmed she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday while in hospice care in Naples, Florida, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Born Florence Catherine Currier on May 3, 1924, in Newton, Massachusetts, Morgan studied music at Juilliard before launching her career in Paris nightclubs during the late 1940s. Performing in both English and French, she quickly gained popularity across Europe before returning to the U.S., where she rose to fame in the 1950s and ’60s.

Her breakout moment came in 1957 with “Fascination,” a romantic ballad that became her signature hit. The song catapulted her to national stardom, leading to frequent appearances on top TV variety shows including The Ed Sullivan Show, The Perry Como Show, and The Dean Martin Show. With her refined image and international appeal, Morgan earned a reputation as a graceful and sophisticated performer.

Over her career, she released numerous albums blending pop, standards, and show tunes. She also performed at the Academy Awards and for multiple U.S. presidents. Though her chart presence faded in the late ’60s, she remained a cherished live act for years.

In 1965, she married Jerry Weintraub, a successful music manager and producer. They had four children and remained together until his death in 2015. After stepping away from public life, Morgan spent her later years quietly in Florida.
