A couple should always discuss having children privately, but sometimes family pressures complicate things. In this case, a mother refused to leave her daughter any inheritance because she wanted biological grandchildren.
When her daughter revealed she was infertile, the mother warned, “No grandchildren, no inheritance.” Soon after, the couple adopted a daughter. When the daughter asked if that counted, the mother said no.
A week later, they arrived with adoption papers and a lawyer. The daughter, tearful but firm, explained, “You only care about blood, so we made a decision.” They handed over a petition to terminate her grandmother’s rights and left. The mother was left shocked and heartbroken, realizing she had lost her daughter.
