While Brad Pitt is a global Hollywood icon, he’s not the only standout in his family. His siblings, Doug and Julie Pitt, have led remarkable lives away from the spotlight—filled with purpose, compassion, and deep ties to their roots.
Doug Pitt: The Philanthropist Who Stayed Home
Doug Pitt may not be a Hollywood star like his older brother, but he’s built a legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and community devotion. A businessman, philanthropist, and investor, Doug has balanced global outreach with hometown loyalty, choosing to stay in Missouri—just miles from where he grew up.
In 2008, he founded Care to Learn, a nonprofit addressing health, hunger, and hygiene needs among children. The idea came after hearing heartbreaking stories at a Springfield Chamber of Commerce meeting—kids sharing toothbrushes, showing up to school hungry. “There’s always that pessimist who says, ‘You’re just enabling deadbeat parents,'” Doug said. “My response was, ‘So what?’ The kid didn’t ask to be there, and he sure as heck doesn’t deserve to be there.”
Since then, Care to Learn has fulfilled over 3 million service requests, expanded to 46 chapters across Missouri, and now serves 135,000+ children. Doug runs it like a business—cutting red tape to help kids fast.
His humanitarian work extends globally too. As a board member of WorldServe International and a Goodwill Ambassador for Tanzania, he’s overseen clean water projects in East Africa.
Despite his success, Doug remains grounded in Springfield, raising his three kids in the same community that shaped him. “I think the greatest compliment I can give it is that I chose to raise my kids here,” he said. “I had the luxury of being able to do that anywhere in the world, and I chose Springfield.”
Julie Neal: The Faith-Driven Mother of Five
While Brad’s brother made waves in business and philanthropy, his sister Julie Neal has lived a quieter, faith-centered life. A “Lover of Jesus” (per her Instagram bio), she’s a devoted wife to Rob Neal and mother to five children—including two adopted from Ethiopia.
“Honestly, I lived in a bubble with my three older kids,” Julie shared. “God just called my family to adopt. We have the space, the love… all of our kids were on board.” Their journey led to a deep connection with Ethiopia, where they later helped bring clean water to the region they adopted from.
Julie’s life is a testament to faith, family, and giving back—proving that compassion runs in the Pitt family.
A Family Legacy of Giving
In 2009, Brad, Doug, and Julie—along with their spouses—donated $1 million to open the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in Springfield, honoring their late mother’s dedication to children’s causes. It became the only regional center with pediatric oncologists and hematologists.
While Brad Pitt remains the most visible Pitt, Doug and Julie have quietly built lives defined by purpose, love, and deep roots. Their stories—and the rare photos of them—paint a fuller picture of the family behind the fame.
