A Legend’s Tragic Farewell: With deep sorrow, we share the news of his passing. When you learn who he was, it will break your heart.-

Chuck Negron, the iconic voice behind Three Dog Night’s greatest hits, has passed away at the age of 83 on February 2, 2026. Negron, who had been battling heart failure and COPD, died peacefully at his home in Studio City, California, surrounded by family.

Born in the Bronx on June 8, 1942, Negron rose from humble beginnings, achieving rock stardom as part of Three Dog Night in the late 1960s. His powerful, emotional voice helped define classics like “Joy to the World,” “One,” and “Mama Told Me (Not to Come).” However, the band’s success was marred by addiction, leading to Negron’s struggles and the eventual disbandment of the group.

After achieving sobriety in 1991, Negron rebuilt his life, releasing several solo albums and sharing his raw story in his memoir, Three Dog Nightmare. Despite physical decline, he continued performing until the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed live shows.

Negron’s legacy is not just in his music but in his journey of resilience. He is survived by his wife, Ami, and his children. His voice, rich with vulnerability and honesty, will continue to resonate long after his passing. Rest in peace, Chuck Negron.
