In Tucson, Arizona, the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has developed into a major missing-persons investigation that has drawn national attention.
Nancy was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off at her home. When she failed to contact her family, authorities quickly launched a multi-agency search that soon escalated into a suspected kidnapping case.
Early speculation focused on people closest to her, including the last known person to see her alive, but officials have now clarified that these theories are unfounded. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the Guthrie family and others connected to Nancy have been fully cleared and are not considered suspects.
Investigators have instead shifted attention to new evidence, including a glove found near the property that appears to match one seen in doorbell camera footage of a masked individual entering the home. This footage remains one of the strongest leads in the case.
The FBI has joined the investigation and increased the reward for information from $50,000 to $100,000 in hopes of generating new tips that could lead to Nancy’s whereabouts and identify the suspect.
While the family deals with the emotional toll of the disappearance, authorities continue to search for answers, focusing on the unidentified figure captured on video as the key to solving the case.
