Hailey decides to take a vacation, hoping to escape the stress and painful memories that have been weighing on her.
One day, she visits a grocery store near her hotel to pick up a few things. While walking through the store, she suddenly notices a man who looks remarkably similar to her late husband, George.
But what shocks her even more is the woman standing beside him. It is Martha, George’s mother.
Confused and unable to believe what she is seeing, Hailey walks toward the man. The closer she gets, the more certain she becomes that he is George.
“George?” she calls out.
The man turns around, and their eyes meet. His face immediately loses its color. Instead of greeting her, he quickly tries to leave the store with Martha.
Hailey follows them and steps in front of them, refusing to let them walk away.
“George… Is that really you? How can this be? You died!” she says, completely stunned.
“Hailey, I can explain everything,” he answers quietly. “But please, not here.”
He nervously looks around the store, as though he is worried someone might recognize him.
“What exactly are you going to explain?” Hailey demands, her anger rising. “How you took all my money and then pretended to die?”
“It isn’t what you think,” George says. “I promise I’ll explain everything, but we can’t talk about it here.”
“Why not?” Hailey asks. “Are you scared the police will find you?”
“Hailey, please. Just come with me, and I’ll tell you the whole truth.”
Still furious and confused, Hailey turns to Martha, hoping the older woman will finally give her some answers. But Martha remains completely silent.
After a tense moment, Hailey agrees to leave the store with George and Martha.
When they reach George’s car, he opens the door and looks at Hailey.
“Get in,” he tells her.
Hailey hesitates, knowing that whatever happens next could finally reveal the truth about her husband’s mysterious death.
