Cameron Hamilton, acting FEMA administrator, was fired at Homeland Security headquarters by Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar and Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski, according to a source. He returned to FEMA, gathered his things, and his online profiles were removed.
His dismissal came a day after he testified before Congress, opposing the idea of eliminating FEMA—contradicting recent comments from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
FEMA confirmed the firing, naming David Richardson as his replacement. No reason was given.
Former FEMA officials criticized the move, warning it could damage public trust. Hamilton, a former Navy SEAL, had considered resigning earlier but was persuaded to stay. In March, he passed a lie detector test related to a leak investigation.
