Admirers gushed over the romantic gesture, while detractors called the ring “tacky,” “unwearable,” and “something you could use as a paperweight.” Some even questioned Ronaldo’s timing, noting he waited almost nine years before offering a stone that could finance a small island.
The couple first crossed paths in 2016 inside a Gucci boutique in Madrid; Georgina was a sales assistant, Ronaldo a Real Madrid superstar.
