Breastfeeding is an act of love that builds bonds of security and affection. While it’s often seen as something only mothers do, men can also participate using formula and a nipple shield.
This was the case for Maxamillian Kendall Neubauer from Wisconsin. In 2018, his wife April faced serious complications during labor and had to undergo an emergency C-section. While she recovered, Maxamillian stepped in to feed their newborn daughter—with the help of hospital staff and a simulated breastfeeding setup.
A nurse asked if he’d be willing to try using a fake nipple and formula to feed the baby. Maxamillian agreed without hesitation. Shirtless for skin-to-skin contact, he held his daughter close and fed her, becoming the first to “breastfeed” her.
His act deeply moved the hospital staff and sent a powerful message about fatherhood, love, and emotional responsibility.
“I felt an instant connection,” he said. “I just wanted her to feel safe and loved.”
