Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson on On-Screen Chemistry and ‘Threesome’ Scene

Actor Liam Neeson has opened up about the “strange” experience of working with an intimacy coordinator for the first time, particularly while filming a risqué “threesome” scene with co-star Pamela Anderson for their new movie, The Naked Gun.

A Budding Romance and On-Set Chemistry

Liam Neeson’s new movie, The Naked Gun, is set to hit theaters on Friday (August 1), where he stars as Detective Frank Drebin Jr., alongside Pamela Anderson, who plays the role of Beth. As the two have been promoting their upcoming film, their evident chemistry has sparked real-life romance rumors. When asked if they were an item, Anderson responded by saying, “What? I don’t understand the question,” while Neeson was also elusive, adding, “I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry — as two actors. It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.”

The pair’s strong connection on set was further highlighted by a source who told PEOPLE that Anderson, 58, and Neeson, 73, are “a budding romance in the early stages,” adding that they are “sincere, and it’s clear they’re smitten with each other.” These rumors began months ago when Neeson admitted to being “madly in love” with Anderson. He told PEOPLE back in October that she is “just terrific to work with” and that he “can’t compliment her enough.” He continued to praise her by saying, “No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”

The “Strange” Work of Intimacy Coordination

Despite their natural chemistry, Neeson and Anderson still worked with an intimacy coordinator for some of the more risqué scenes in the movie. Neeson discussed the experience on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, admitting that it was “a little bit strange” to have a third person involved, especially for the “threesome” scene. He noted that the scene had to be “specifically choreographed” with the coordinator’s help, adding jokingly, “Pamela and I knew what to do.” In another steamy bedroom scene, the intensity was reportedly so high that their coordinator actually had to step away for a coffee break.
