A woman ended communication with a man after what was supposed to be their first date didn’t unfold as she expected.
She later shared her experience on Reddit, explaining that she felt her privacy had been crossed and that the situation turned into an unintended “test” of her financial intentions, prompting her to seek feedback from others online.
According to her account, the two planned a dinner after he asked for her restaurant preference. She mentioned an upscale venue she liked but also suggested a more affordable option, noting that the high-end restaurant could easily cost several hundred dollars. Despite this, he insisted on going to her preferred spot because he wanted to try it.
During the date, they shared appetizers, main courses, drinks, and dessert, and the conversation went well. When the bill arrived, both initially discussed splitting the cost. However, as they prepared to pay separately, he decided to cover the entire amount instead.
She later became uncomfortable when he commented after seeing her card, interpreting the moment as an unwanted invasion of personal information. Combined with her belief that the situation may have been a kind of “test,” she decided she no longer felt comfortable continuing the connection.
After the evening ended, she thanked him, went home, and ultimately blocked him, later sharing the story online for perspective.
